CALIFORNIA NONPROFITS. LOCAL EXPERTISE. (800) CTF-1590
FOR NONPROFITS EXPLORING CTF

501(c)(3) status is a start.
Let’s check the rest.

Eligibility depends on your organization’s category, qualifying community programs, California locations, finances, and how broadband is used.

COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS

Serving people through technology.

Ordinary CBOs generally require annual revenue below $5 million per FEIN, a majority of board members residing in California, qualifying programs as a primary function, and community access to broadband and technology.

HEALTHCARE ORGANIZATIONS

A different set of requirements.

Healthcare CBOs have separate criteria, including annual revenue below $50 million, qualifying licensed healthcare services, and California board and location requirements.

Your programs
drive eligibility.

Qualifying activities can include educational instruction, job training, job placement, and community technology centers. Head Start and designated 2-1-1 providers have specific requirements.

Administrative internet is different.

For ordinary CBOs, broadband used primarily for administration is ineligible. Community-serving use is essential. Exceptions and separate criteria apply to certain categories.

We review the relevant category instead of assuming every nonprofit or location qualifies.
