Fixed wireless
Microwave and point-to-multipoint fixed wireless can qualify, subject to the specific provider product and service use. Cellular-based offerings require review under the applicable mobile broadband rules.

CTF is a CPUC-administered program that provides qualifying California organizations a 50% discount on eligible advanced communications services.
The discount applies to eligible monthly recurring service charges, delivered through a participating provider. It is not a cash grant paid directly to your organization.
Eligible categories include cable internet, shared and dedicated fiber, fixed wireless, Ethernet, and qualifying wide-area network services. Specific products, approved locations, and qualifying use must be confirmed. Mobile broadband requires applicable program approval.
We compare available products and confirm CTF eligibility with each participating provider.

Cable modem internet and fiber optics are eligible categories. We verify specific coax, GPON, and asymmetric business fiber offerings with the provider.
Dedicated fiber and Ethernet-based internet services can qualify. We compare capacity, reliability, service commitments, and costs after applicable discounts.
Metro Ethernet, Ethernet private lines, and qualifying WAN services can connect approved locations. Eligibility depends on the specific product and network arrangement; local-area networks are excluded.
The discount applies to eligible monthly recurring service charges through a participating CTF provider. Equipment, maintenance, construction, voice and VoIP, taxes, fees, surcharges, usage fees, and ineligible add-ons are excluded. Ordinary community-based nonprofits generally must use the connection primarily to serve community members.
Read the official CTF service guidanceA participant must provide its approval letter to a participating provider. The provider verifies the eligible services and applies the discount on the bill.
Approved locations, service use, eligibility dates, and the exact product all matter. Bundled services require eligible-cost allocation. Other funding can affect the discount.
